Teri has an intuitive laid back sense of time reminiscent of Abbey Lincoln and Betty Carter but with her own uniqueness. JACK DEJOHNETTE (Legendary Jazz Drummer & 2012 NEA JazzMaster)
On first hearing the new trio of Teri Roiger on vocals, saxophonist Joel Frahm and John Menegon on bass in concert, I was drawn into their personal interpretations and interplay as a unit throughout the set. I'm a fan! JOE LOVANO (Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer, bandleader)

GHOST OF YESTERDAY: Shades of Lady Day (Dot Time Records, 2017) Billie Holiday provided the initial spark that led to a lifelong commitment to jazz. On this multi-dimensional project, Roiger celebrates and honors Lady Day’s legacy by showing the many facets of Billie – her ebullient joy, her rebellious spirit, her rich sensuality, and the depth of her blues. In addition to recording re-imagined versions of Billie classics, the recording also includes three interesting songs inspired by Billie, all of which appear here on disc for the first time with Teri’s original lyrics, as well as the Gil Scott-Heron classic Lady Day and John Coltrane.
This release was chosen by acclaimed author/critic Scott Yanow as one of his top 30 Jazz releases of 2017!
"A vocalist who wraps (Abbey) Lincoln's complex songs around her finger…" Mark Myers, Jazzwax.com
The very fine singer Teri Roiger is one of the few who truly comprehends what Abbey Lincoln did with time, timbre, and phrasing. Most importantly, she is not what they call a clone. Teri absorbed everything into her own individuality, can actually swing hard, sing impressive ballads, and emote the invincible and real feeling of jazz. STANLEY CROUCH (Author, Cultural Critic & 2019 NEA Jazz Master)
Powerfully moving...segacious warmth...impressively deep...Christopher Loudon, JAZZTIMES
She is made for those who still understand the meaning of the term the real thing. Stanley Crouch (Author/Cultural Critic & 2019 NEA JazzMaster)
Roiger has a voice like the finest bittersweet chocolate full of rich, dark, contradicting flavors that miraculously blend to create one of the most original vocal instruments in decades. Playboy Magazine
